Software Donated for IBA Use
There have been a number of companies who have donated software for use in the IBA competition. Please read through each of the company's requirements in order to take advantage of their contribution.
All schools should have their hardware and software in place before they receive their datasets. Many vendors are extremely busy with client license renewals in late December and early January. Schools and teams should not wait until December or January to verify or obtain a license for the software they wish to use. NOTE: Some schools already have licenses available through a vendor’s university program. Please verify this with your department. The IBA Committee has experienced requests for help with licenses only to learn that a school already has the software installed and available to them.
If you encounter licensing or installation issues please immediately contact the appropriate Vendor Contact and copy Ken Nemeth from the IBA Committee (firstname.lastname@example.org). One person from your school should be designated as the contact for your software licensing and installation to enable quick resolution of any issues.
AAPG Datapages Archives
As part of the 2013 Datapages Sponsorship for the AAPG Imperial Barrel Award Program, AAPG Datapages offers universities a limited (120 days) access to the full Archives database, allowing Teams to research more than 125,000 technical documents and images about upstream petroleum geology.
Many of the competing Teams represent schools who already may have an active subscription to the Archives, but we hope to expose all participating Teams to the same resources and make this offer. All access is via standard web browser and a web‐based search form.
Subsidized university subscriptions also are available to any school on a long‐term basis at minimal cost. Further, AAPG Foundation offers a special Endowment program where donors are found to help fund a long‐term subscription at no cost to a recipient school. For either program, contact AAPG Datapages for more detail.
